Well, as we discussed yesterday, I "vote" for:

Communication conventions and styles, for I believe it can really become an issue among e-learners. As there are no facial expressions or voice tones in discussion forums, we are left to rely completely on written words and for this reason, if we're not aware of which appropriate register, style, language to use, we sometimes might not convey our message thoroughly, be misinterpreted, or even "sound" rude. That's the difference between posting "The main problem is X because of this and that", or "Would it big OK to say X is likely to be a problem because of... What do you think?/Do you agree?" So people can "read" your personality and how much you're willing to listen to your coursemates' opinion.

As Jose Antonio wisely pointed out yesterday - I totally agree with you, Jose! - Differing Input and Contributions, and how they are to be assessed in an online environment must be tackled carefully by e-moderators. How much can we say an e-learner is involved in the tasks, participating in/contributing to the discussions? Is is how much one posts comments? How often he/she logs in? Which criteria should we use to assess the relevance of each post/comment made by a student and/or the final outcomes of group or individual works?

And, finally, I believe choosing/playing "roles" might be a difficult part of online group work. Who does what? How can we distribute tasks so that all students feel they are contributing/participating equally? Should e-tutors assign those roles beforehand, or let students find their roles naturally (or sometimes struggle to find them!) in online collaborative learning?

Thanks a lot Camila for your comments about the wiki. I agree with you it is really a great tool and very simple to use. It will be a pleasure to teach you how to use it.

I really liked the way you summarized the discussion we had last night. I also liked the way you addressed the main issues related to each topic. Ihave also read the transcript of your chat with Anael and you both made some very good points (specially the one about personality clashes and the fact that people's personalities change in onlined environments). Now, let´s wait for Anael to join us and express his thoughts on the subject. He might have a topic to add or to exclude or he might agree with us.
I will be working in the afternoon and will log on to see updates and might ellaborate a ittle more on my comments when I have some more time.

i just added a link to the side bar called "Course Documents" where I posted the study guide for this week and the course description. I guess this is good because we do not have to open a word document if we need to consult it.

I have alredy posted a link to our wiki on the side bar calle E-tivity 2 with all the instructions for this activity. I guess we could do like we did with the first activity: go the wiki and post our ideas for this activity on the comment area (the comment area is on the bottom of the page) . We could suggest a post to comment on (post 2) and put our ideas and then summarize them and post as a group. And for post 3 (decide on strategies) we could mention some in our comments and then summarize in the evening and post as a group post till tommorrow morning. The wiki page http://etutoring.pbwiki.com/ Just one last thing, when posting comments we should mention Post 2 or Post 3 . What do you guys think? By the way, I am posting this comment on the first page or our wiki in the comments' area and you can post your reactions there or reply by email.
